(Answer) (Category) PRW.NET FAQ's : (Category) Email :
I will be travelling outside Puerto Rico. Can I retrieve my email while connected to America Online or another ISP ?
Yes. The easiest way to retrieve your email from a connection outside PRW.NET is by using WebMail. If you need to send email while on a connection outside our network you have two alternatives:

1. Use the mail server of the remote ISP as "outgoing mail server". The "incoming mail server" should still be pop.prw.net (or pop.yourdomain.com for business accounts) since that is where your mailbox is located.

2. Activate "SMTP Authentication" on your email program. If you are using Outlook Express that is the option called "My server requires authentication" on the definition of your email servers (Tools, Accounts, Properties). Note that some ISPs block outbound ESMTP connections. "SMTP Authentication" will not work in those cases.

This authentication is necessary to insure that only PRW.NET customers use our mail servers and that no "mail relays" are allowed. This is a common practice among ISPs.
