V.44 provides the potential for better compression and PCM provides
the potential for higher upload rates (up to 48 Kbps vs 33 Kbps
for V.90 modems). Yet a typical user on a typical phone line
will not see a significant change at this time. The modem-on-hold
feature is currently the most attractive feature to V.92 users.
