(Answer) (Category) PRW.NET FAQ's : (Category) ISDN :
What is ISDN ? Why should I consider it ?
ISDN stands for "Integrated Services Digital Network". The most common ISDN service for home and business use is the Basic Rate Interface (BRI) that provides two 64 Kbps "B" (bearer) channels for data and one 16 Kbps "D" (delta)channel for signaling. Some advantages of ISDN over analog lines are:
  • SPEED - An ISDN line offers up to 4 times the performance of an analog line for data transmission. Dialing time is also reduced to around two seconds.
  • QUALITY - Digital lines are much less likely to be affected by noise or static.
  • FUNCTIONALITY - An ISDN line provides multiple channels so you can have simultaneous voice and data connections.
